Through the Valley of Dry Bones: A Vision of Divine Glory

Scripture Focus: Ezekiel 37:1–28 (NKJV)

Entering the Valley

Ezekiel’s vision begins in a valley filled with dry bones, symbols of hopelessness, despair, and spiritual death. God places the prophet right in the midst of this desolation, not to overwhelm him, but to reveal His power to restore. The question God asks, “Son of man, can these bones live?”, is the same question He asks us when we face lifeless places in our own lives and ministries.

Ezekiel’s humble response, “O Lord God, You know,” reminds us that revival is never born from human strength but from divine sovereignty.

Bones and Breath

• Bones represent those spiritually dead, disassembled, and detached people who feel undone and hopeless. • Breath (ruach) in Hebrew means wind, spirit, or life. It is the precious Spirit of God that transforms the lifeless into the living. • Sinews and flesh symbolize strength and unity being restored within the body of Christ.

When Ezekiel prophesied, the bones came together, but they were not yet alive. Structure without Spirit is still lifeless. It was only when the breath of God entered that they stood as a mighty army.

Revival in the Valley

The vision is not about physical resurrection but spiritual renewal.

• Unity: bone joined to bone, sinew securing sinew. The Holy Spirit reconstructing what despair dismantled.

• Strength: resilience and vigor for His people.

• Life: the fire of the Holy Spirit breathing revival into dry places. Promise of Restoration.

God declares: “I will put My Spirit in you, and you shall live.” This is His promise of revival, restoration, and renewal. Just as He brought Israel out of captivity, He brings us out of spiritual graves, places of bondage, despair, and defeat.

The valley of dry bones becomes a testimony: no situation is too hopeless for God’s Spirit to breathe life into. What looks dead can rise again. What feels cut off can be restored.

Reflection Questions

1. Where in your life or ministry do you feel like you’re walking through a valley of dry bones?

2. How does Ezekiel’s faith, trusting God’s power without limitation, inspire your own response to hopelessness?

3. What does it mean for you personally to experience the “breath of God” in areas that feel lifeless?

4. How can you partner with God in speaking life and hope into others who feel spiritually dry?

Ezekiel’s vision is a living reminder that God specializes in resurrection power. He takes what is scattered and hopeless, breathes His Spirit, and transforms it into something great. Where there is dryness, He brings rivers of life. Where there is despair, He brings hope. Where there is death, He brings resurrection.

Revival begins when we allow His Spirit to breathe into our valleys.

May God bless and keep you always!
